Emergency management agencies across Indiana are being recognized this week as part of Emergency Management Agency Appreciation Week.

The designation runs through Saturday and highlights the work emergency managers do to help communities prepare for, respond to, recover from and reduce the impact of disasters.

The recognition comes as the Indiana Department of Homeland Security recently completed Operation Broken Transmission, a statewide emergency exercise that tested how local emergency management agencies would continue operating during a complete communications failure.

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security is also recognizing emergency managers throughout the week on social media and encouraging Hoosiers to learn more about their local emergency management agencies and volunteer to help support emergency preparedness efforts.

For a closer look at the work being done locally, visit the Knox County Emergency Management Agency’s Facebook page. The agency regularly posts weather alerts, community updates and behind-the-scenes information explaining its many roles, responsibilities and the work it does to help keep Knox County prepared for emergencies.
