The effort to expand affordable childcare in the region has gotten some financial help.

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb announced that over $18 million in employer-sponsored child care grants has been granted to 64 businesses, community groups and school corporations in the state.

The money comes from Indiana Family and Social Services Administration’s Office of Early Childhood and Out-of-School Learning initiative.

Knox County Life Enrichment Foundation based in Vincennes is getting $750,000 of those funds.

The program, a partnership with the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, uses a portion of the state’s remaining federal relief funds from the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s all part of the governor’s 2023 Next Level Agenda, meant to mobilize employers and communities to create or expand child care offerings that address the needs of working Hoosiers.
