We are in the middle of Polar Plunge season.

2024 is the 25th year for the event which raises funds for Indiana Special Olympics.

Participants get pledges for donations through their individual social media fundraising campaigns as well as traditional methods and then take those pledge sheets to their Polar Plunge event.

At least $99  has to be raised to participate.

Individuals or teams may dress up in costumes and then they all take a plunge into cold water in the middle of winter.

This area’s Polar Plunge happens on Saturday at Pride’s Creek Park in Petersburg.

Francie Smith is the South Regional Manager and Senior Director of Programs for Special Olympics in Indiana and she says the fundraising is very important to help defray the costs of Special Olympic activities that happen year round all across Indiana…

Registration for the Polar Plunge in Petersburg is at 10-am at the golf course clubhouse at Pride’s Creek and the plunge is at the lake at Noon.
