Offenders in the Knox County Community Corrections system will move to their new facility on Monday.
Finishing touches are being completed in the new state of the art building adjacent to the Knox County Sheriff’s Department and Jail on Old Decker Road on what is now called the Knox County Justice Campus.
Community Corrections Director Scott Brown says the pubic is invited to an open house from 1 to 5pm this Sunday.
Brown says work release inmates have been on home detention for the past two weeks because of a water leak issue at what is now the former community corrections site on North 8th Street in Vincennes.
The water problem posed a health concern, so those on work release were allowed to return home when not at work until the new building was opened.
They are to report to the new location on Monday.
The community corrections construction and jail expansion project is a $36 million endeavor that started when ground was broken at the jail site two years ago.
It was paid for through a jail tax, a sale of bonds and ARPA funds.
The jail expansion was officially opened earlier this year.
