State Police are targeting drivers who don’t move over or slow down.

The Indiana State Police Post at Jasper has announced they will conduct a saturation patrol on Friday concerning Indiana’s Move Over Law.

The statute requires motorists who come upon any vehicle parked or stopped along the shoulder of the road to move over into another lane not adjacent to the stopped vehicle.

If changing lanes is not possible the driver is required to slow down to at least ten miles below the posted speed limit when passing the stopped vehicle.

A violation is a Class A Infraction however if there is an injury or death then the violation is a Level 6 Felony.
