Rebecca Pinnick, the Transportation Director for YMCA’s VanGo transportation service addressed the Knox County Commissioners on Tuesday reporting they provided 65,154 rides last year.

The increase in service along with purchasing some new vehicles added to the operations cost and Pinnick said they finished the year over budget.

The program is funded partly through state and federal dollars.  Pinnick reported little federal money left over and all of the state funds were spent but she says they have started fresh for the new year and are good on funding for 2024.

New YMCA CEO Dennis Kordes  gave Pinnick praise for her work…

Both reported a feasibility study will take place soon on getting a fixed route for VanGo with the hope of having a pilot program later this year.

Kordes says that fixed route will allow other vans to provide better service.

It was also reported that VanGo will start service this year to the new teen center located on Broadway Street in Vincennes.
