Sunday is February 25th.  That’s the anniversary of the capture of Fort Sackville on the site of the George Rogers Clark Memorial in Vincennes.

It was a pivotal moment in the Revolutionary War and American History, and this year marks 245 years since Clark won the battle against the British securing more territory and showing the rebels resolve in the fight.

Every year, on or around that date, the day has been marked by special activities at the memorial.

But because of the pandemic, that ceremony hasn’t happened since 2019.

Chief Ranger of the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park says officials were more than happy for the return of the event especially on the 245th commemoration…

Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum was at the event making a proclamation declaring today February 23rd as George Rogers Clark Day.
