School Bus Driver Jailed for OVWI

A Washington Catholic School bus driver was arrested after police responded to a report of it being stuck in the mud on Monday.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office says the bus was stuck at at US 50 and County Road 300W in Washington.  The call came it at 9:07 a.m.

Deputies arrived to find a 2007 yellow Freightliner school bus owned by the Diocese of Evansville Catholic Church.

The driver, 55-year-old Steven W. Truelove of Washington, was transported to Daviess Community Hospital for a drug and alcohol screen. His blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.221.

All 38 children and four adults aboard the bus were safely removed, and no injuries were reported.

Truelove was arrested and is currently being held at the Daviess County Security Center without bond. He faces a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OVWI) endangering.
