The Vincennes Community School Board recognized several staff members and approved key financial actions during its Monday night meeting.

Jeanette Johnson and Savannah Tedrow from Little Alice Learning Center were named Employees of the Month. Johnson was praised for her long career in early childhood education and upcoming role teaching dual credit courses through Vincennes University. Tedrow was recognized for her work as a classroom assistant and for recently earning a bachelor’s degree.

Franklin Elementary teacher Renae Wild received special recognition for using the Heimlich maneuver to save a choking student. Additional honors included Parker Newman as Educator of the Year, Police Chief Aaron Luce as Public Servant of the Year, and Tricia Hall as District 11 Assistant Principal of the Year.

The board also approved a $7,000 land purchase to expand Franklin Elementary’s playground. Two resolutions were passed to temporarily transfer funds between accounts to support upcoming Lincoln High School projects, with plans to restore the balances after bond proceeds are received.
