Good Samaritan EMS will recognize National EMS Week from May 18 through 24 with a series of events celebrating the work of emergency responders and engaging the local community.

The week kicks off Monday, May 19, with a Community Safety Night from 4 to 6 p.m. at the hospital’s parking lot at 7th and Dubois. The public can participate in free activities like car seat safety checks, CPR training for kids, and bleeding control demonstrations.

On Tuesday, May 20, EMS professionals will take part in an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course at 2 p.m. in the Vincennes University parking lots across from the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center.

Training continues Wednesday, May 21, at 10 a.m. with a Mobile Simulation Lab Experience at Good Samaritan’s 7th and Dubois lot. The lab offers realistic emergency response training for EMS and fire personnel.

The community is invited to a Stop the Bleed training on Thursday, May 22, at 4 p.m. at the Charles C. Hedde, MD Health Education Center. The free class teaches how to respond during life-threatening bleeding emergencies.

The week wraps up Friday, May 23, with an EMS and Friends Cookout to show appreciation for EMS workers and their contributions.
