Aldi officially opened its new Vincennes location today with a ribbon cutting, much to the delight of local residents.
The store is located at 220 Kimmell Road next to Marshalls.
Eager shoppers began lining up as early as 5:20 a.m., hoping to be among the first through the doors and win prizes as part of the grand opening celebration.
Today’s ribbon cutting drew local officials, store representatives, and community members who welcomed the discount grocery chain to the area. After the ceremony, the line of customers quickly made their way inside to explore the store’s offerings.
The new Vincennes store features Aldi’s signature layout, built for efficiency and simplicity.
A sneak peek and soft opening happened quietly earlier this week, giving some shoppers an early opportunity to explore the store and make purchases ahead of the grand opening.
The Vincennes location is one of three new Aldi stores opening today in Indiana, with others in Crawfordsville and Westfield.
Construction on the Vincennes store began last summer.
Aldi, short for “Albrecht Discount,” was founded in Germany in 1913 by Anna Albrecht and her sons Karl and Theo. The company now operates more than 12,000 stores worldwide, including over 2,400 in the U.S.
