A local lawmaker is expressing his condolences and support for Linton-area residents affected by the recent deadly tornado.
In his weekly update, State Senator Eric Bassler of Washington, who represents Senate District 39 including Greene County, said he is praying for those impacted by the severe storms that struck portions of Indiana last week.
“Like many of you, I have been lifting up those impacted by the recent tornados that hit portions of Indiana, including Greene and Sullivan counties, in prayer – especially for the loved ones of the person who lost their life near Linton,” Bassler said.
He pledged to work with state and local officials to ensure resources reach those in need as quickly as possible.
Residents in Greene County who experienced property damage from the May 16 tornado can report it by calling Indiana 211 at 2-1-1 or 866-211-9966, or by visiting in211.communityos.org.
Bassler also warned of potential scammers who often target storm victims. He urged residents to be cautious and seek guidance on how to avoid fraud.
“Hoosiers are known for our generous spirit, and I know our neighbors will rally around those impacted by the tornados,” Bassler said.
