Two Pike County industries are featured in this week’s Southern Indiana Business Report.

Four Star Fabricators in Petersburg is putting a state grant to work—thanks to Conexus Indiana’s Manufacturing Readiness program. The company used the funding to add a robotic arm that assists with long-term welding on large industrial parts. Leaders say it’s helped speed up production and given workers the chance to learn new tech skills.

Stella-Jones in Winslow, which processes over a million railroad ties each year, also added a robotic arm as part of a $7 million plant upgrade. Officials say it boosts efficiency and improves safety for employees.

The Manufacturing Readiness Grant program—run by Conexus Indiana—has awarded nearly $80 million to businesses in 85 counties across the state.

More information on the grant is available online.
