The Vincennes/Knox County Visitors and Tourism Bureau is calling on locals with strength, spirit, and a sense of humor to step into the role of “Mr. 250” — a Revolutionary War-inspired mascot created to help celebrate America’s 250th birthday in 2026.
Tourism Bureau Executive Director Janice Barniak describes Mr. 250 as a modern, energetic twist on a Revolutionary soldier. The ideal candidate will be someone who can perform feats of strength, appear at community events, and bring excitement and character to the celebration.
“We’re looking for someone muscular enough to seem like the WWE designed them,” Barniak said with a laugh.
The bureau plans for Mr. 250 to be part of parades, public appearances, and promotional videos leading up to the nation’s semiquincentennial. “He’s going to break things and go ‘roar!’ and be like, ‘Anyone want a revolution?’” said Barniak. “We want him to be a character — to get people excited about the 250th. We’re hoping to unveil Mr. 250 by the Fourth of July.”
Those interested in trying out for the role are encouraged to contact the Visitors Bureau or stop by the office on Main Street in downtown Vincennes.
