Blood supplies are low, and the Knox County Health Department is asking the public to give a a community blood drive this week.

The department is partnering with Versiti Blood Center of Indiana to host the drive this Wednesday, June 26, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at 328 North 2nd Street in Vincennes.

Organizers stress the urgency of donating, noting that the current blood supply is critically low. Blood collected during the drive will help patients in local hospitals, including trauma and cancer patients, and may support up to three lives per donation.

Incentives are being offered due to the shortage. Donors will receive an Indiana Fever T-shirt while supplies last and will be entered into a drawing for four tickets to Kings Island. Those who provide a valid email address will also receive a $25 electronic gift card.

The bloodmobile will be parked in the rear lot of the health department’s Bierhaus Building. Appointments are encouraged and can be made by scanning the QR code on the event flyer or by calling 800-632-4722.

Organizers remind participants to eat a healthy meal and stay hydrated before donating.
