The Red Skelton Comedy Convention returns July 18–20 with three days of performances, tours, and tributes celebrating the life and legacy of Vincennes native Red Skelton.
Now in its second year with a comedy-focused format, the event opens on Red’s birthday, July 18, with a live performance by impersonator Bryan Hoffman and a talk about Skelton’s time as a Mason, followed by a tour of the local Masonic lodge.
“The theme of this year’s comedy convention is Clem Goes to Hooterville. So we’re really focusing on the rural comedy,” said Anne Pratt, Executive Director of the Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy.
Bus tours will run throughout the weekend, highlighting places connected to Red’s early life. The museum will also host a tribute to Vincennes actor Alvy Moore of Green Acres and a presentation about animal trainer Frank Inn, portrayed by Indiana performer Dave Reddick.
There are many more activities and all of the information is available at redskeltonmuseum.org.
