An autopsy has confirmed that a Bicknell woman died from internal injuries sustained in a crash involving a golf cart and a pickup truck.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says 57-year-old Anissa Everett died Monday shortly after being taken to the hospital following a low-speed collision at Main and Third Streets in Bicknell.
Deputies were called to the scene just before 9 a.m. and found Everett conscious but in pain after being thrown from a golf cart. She was transported by ambulance, but her condition quickly worsened. She became unresponsive and died soon after arrival at the hospital.
Authorities say a 17-year-old driving a pickup truck told deputies he believed he had the right-of-way at the intersection when he struck the rear of the golf cart.
Damage to both vehicles was minor, and the teen driver was not injured.
The autopsy was conducted Tuesday and ruled Everett’s death accidental.
The sheriff’s office issued a reminder that golf carts are not designed for roadway use and offer little protection in the event of a crash.
