Knox County’s John Gregg is among nine new members appointed to the Indiana Economic Development Corporation Board, which is meeting this afternoon in Indianapolis. The move comes as Governor Mike Braun follows through on plans to replace all prior members of the board.
Gregg, who lives and farms near Sandborn and serves on the Indiana State Fair Commission, brings a long history of public service to the role. He served 16 years in the Indiana General Assembly, including six as Speaker of the House, and was the Democratic candidate for governor in 2012 and 2016.
According to a story in Hoosier Ag Today , Braun has said the board overhaul is part of his push to increase transparency within the IEDC, which is currently under a forensic audit. The review includes the agency’s financial practices and those of its nonprofit partners.
Joining Gregg on the board are Don Lamb, director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture; Chris King of Shelbyville; Gus Olympidis of Valparaiso; George Thomas of Granger; Billie Dragoo of Indianapolis; David Fagan of Portage; Greg Gibson of Terre Haute; and Richard Waterfield of Fort Wayne.
The new board, now chaired by Braun, is holding a joint meeting today with the Indiana Economic Development Foundation at the Indiana State Library.
