Indiana’s public colleges and universities will freeze tuition rates for undergraduate students for the next two academic years.
The move follows a request by Governor Mike Braun, who asked institutions to hold tuition and mandatory fees steady through the 2026-27 school year. The freeze applies Vincennes University as well as all campuses of Indiana and Purdue Universities, Ivy Tech Community College, Indiana State University, the University of Southern Indiana and Ball State.
Braun’s proposal received rare unanimous backing from the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. Commission members had never fully supported a tuition pause until now.
“This commitment puts students and parents first by striving for affordability,” Braun said.
The freeze marks the first time since at least 2010 that multiple Indiana universities have enacted a coordinated tuition hold. It applies only to undergraduate programs and does not extend to graduate or professional schools.
