Two Princeton residents have been sentenced for a large-scale mail theft and fraud scheme uncovered in 2023.

Michael Wright was given 12 years, and Cortney Young got two years in federal prison, plus three years of supervised release.

Starting in 2023, law enforcement received complaints about stolen mail and forged checks. In March and April of that year, Evansville police caught Wright using a stolen arrow key to take mail from collection boxes, with Young driving the getaway car.

During their April 2023 arrest, officers found stolen mail, hundreds of checks worth nearly $1.9 million, credit cards, and illegal guns — including a ghost gun converted to fire automatically.
