The Vincennes Salvation Army’s first-ever “Stuff the Trailer” campaign ended with strong community support.
Officials report they collected 223 school supply items and raised over $200 to purchase more essentials for local teachers.
Held Friday at Walmart, the event was organized by Captain Joey Gates and aimed to ease the burden on educators who often spend personal funds on classroom materials. Donations included basic supplies like pencils, craft items, and even snacks—resources many teachers need to stock their classrooms.
“We just want to help them a little bit,” Gates said ahead of the event. “Teachers spend so much money out of pocket, and this is one way we can give back.”
While Friday’s trailer-stuffing event is over, support opportunities continue. Donation registries remain live online, and physical drop-offs are welcome at the Salvation Army office at 2300 North Second Street, Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon.
