A diamond ring once owned by Red Skelton is being offered for sale to help fund an expansion of the Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy in Vincennes.
Local jeweler Aaron Bauer, whose grandmother was a childhood classmate of Skelton, is coordinating the sale at the request of Skelton’s widow, Lothian. She’s visited Bauer’s store regularly over the past decade during trips to Vincennes and remains committed to preserving her husband’s legacy.
The 1960s-era ring features two carats of diamonds set in 14-karat yellow and white gold. Bauer says a minimum reserve price is set, and serious buyers will be able to speak directly with Mrs. Skelton after a one-month bid period.
Proceeds from the sale will go toward the museum’s new expansion, which will house more of Skelton’s artwork and performance memorabilia.
