The Indiana Department of Transportation is closing two area state highways for infrastructure work.
In Sullivan County, a section of State Road 58 near Carlisle is closed starting today for emergency railroad crossing repairs. The closure spans from Cherry Street to East County Road 4 SE. The project is expected to take about a week, depending on the weather. Local traffic will have access up to the closure, while through traffic should use U.S. 41 and State Road 67 as a detour.
Meanwhile, in Knox County, INDOT will close a section of State Road 61 in Verne beginning Wednesday for a pipe replacement project. The closure affects the stretch between Hickory Corner Road and South Robinson Road and is expected to last two days, weather permitting. Detour routes will follow U.S. 41, U.S. 50, and State Road 241. Local traffic will be allowed to approach the work zone.
