Opening night is this Friday for Old Town Players’ latest production, Grease: School Edition.
The show runs August 8–10 and August 15–17 at the OTP theater in Vincennes. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 3 p.m.
Grease: School Edition is a family-friendly adaptation of the classic musical, tailored for teen performers and audiences. With a shorter 90-minute runtime, it retains the spirit of the original, including hit songs like “Greased Lightning,” “Summer Nights,” and “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee.”
Lindsey Higgins of South Knox plays the character Betty Rizzo and says the role has been a fun challenge. “She’s so sassy and she has such a big personality. And I love being her because she’s like the person that I get to be when my guard’s down.”
Reed Selby of Lincoln High School plays Kenickie and says one of the best parts has been collaborating with fellow students “It’s been good. I’ve really enjoyed working with a lot of my friends and seeing a lot of friends come back from previous shows like Rock of Ages” he said. ” I’m glad we’re all working together and we got some new faces to see too.”
