
Patrick Henry Square in downtown Vincennes was packed on Friday for the Welcome on the Wabash event.
Over two dozen teams playing in the Cal Ripken World Series for players 10 years old and under were welcomed in by the community.
Master of Ceremonies Gary Hackney introduced each team to the huge crowd including players and coaches from Aruba, Mexico, Germany and the Philippines.
The 24 teams including teams from Vincennes , will be competing through August 16th in pool play and a single elimination bracket.
It’s the 8th time the Vincennes Cub League has hosted the series which this year includes several regional champion.
The tournament is expected to have a significant economic impact on the Vincennes area, with estimates exceeding $6 million.
