A murder-suicide in Spencer County remains under investigation. Autopsies are scheduled for the two victims involved in Tuesday’s incident in the town of Santa Claus.
Authorities say they received a call shortly after noon from 48-year-old Jamie Adkins, who told dispatchers she had just shot her husband. Officers from multiple agencies responded but were unable to make contact before entering the home.
Inside, they found 49-year-old John Adkins dead from gunshot wounds and Jamie Adkins suffering from a self-inflicted injury. She was taken to a hospital in Owensboro, Kentucky, where she later died.
The autopsies will be conducted in Vanderburgh County and in Chrisney.
