Gibson County Sheriff Bruce Vanoven is responding to recent social media comments about conditions inside the county jail.
A post circulating online claimed the jail was too cold and that inmates were experiencing issues with water temperature. Vanoven said in a video statement that only one official grievance has been filed regarding temperature.
He emphasized that any concerns must be submitted in writing so they can be properly documented and investigated.
Vanoven also stressed that inmates are to be treated with dignity, noting that jail is temporary and individuals housed there will return to the community after their release.
He encouraged residents with questions or concerns to contact the Sheriff’s Office directly rather than turning to social media.
