A new book is taking a closer look at how communities came together during the total solar eclipse—and Vincennes is part of that story.
The Eclipse Effect, by Jamie Carter and Debra Ross, explores how rare events like eclipses can be used to strengthen community connections and create lasting impact beyond the moment itself.
The book includes perspectives from cities along the path of totality, including Vincennes, which hosted thousands of visitors during the April eighth, twenty-twenty-four eclipse.
Sarah Wolfe, who served as Eclipse Director for the City of Vincennes, is among those featured and quoted. She helped plan local events and coordination efforts tied to the eclipse.
Authors say the book isn’t about astronomy alone, but about how shared experiences can leave a long-term community legacy.
