All eyes will be on the weather this weekend as the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch in anticipation of possible heavy snow across much of Indiana. The latest weather models prompted the watch, which runs from Saturday morning through Sunday evening.

Forecasters say heavy snow is possible, with total accumulations between four and seven inches. The watch includes portions of central, east central, south central, southeast, southwest, and west central Indiana as well as surrounding counties in Illinois and Kentucky.

Travel could become very difficult during the storm, especially as conditions change through the weekend

Residents are urged to closely monitor updated forecasts as the system develops. Officials also recommend considering delaying travel if possible. Those who must be on the roads are advised to drive with extreme caution and to carry a winter storm kit, including items such as extra clothing, blankets, water, a flashlight, and a first aid kit in case of an emergency.
