An area conservation officer is being recognized for his work in southwest Indiana.
The Department of Natural Resources has named Caden Graber the 2025 Officer of the Year for District Seven. Graber currently patrols Daviess County, but he started his career three years ago serving Putnam County.
On top of his daily patrols, Graber is a member of the DNR’s public safety dive team.
District Seven covers a ten-county area, including Knox, Daviess, Martin, Gibson, Pike, Dubois, Posey, Vanderburgh, Warrick, and Spencer counties.
By winning this regional award, Graber is now a candidate for the Pitzer Award. That is the highest honor for a conservation officer in Indiana, given annually to one of the ten district winners from across the state.
The state’s top award is named in memory of James Pitzer, an officer who was killed in the line of duty back in 1961.
