The Washington Hatchet Varsity Basketball Coach has resigned.
Bo Burkhart has stepped down from the position during his first season with the Hatchets.Washington Community Schools confirmed the change Tuesday, citing personal reasons.
Washington Community Schools’ Athletic Director Larry Cochren said the district will not comment further, calling it a personnel matter.
Burkhart was hired last April following the retirement of longtime coach Gene Miiller.He previously coached at several programs, including stops as a graduate assistant at Xavier University and as an assistant at Southwestern Illinois College.
Before taking the Washington job, Burkhart served as associate head coach at Evansville Bosse, where the team reached the Class 3A semi-state in 2024.
