Knox County Indiana Economic Development is launching a new workforce and business attraction effort focused on 2026, combining digital outreach, a national relocation program, and new housing development in Vincennes.

As part of the initiative, the organization has released a four-minute marketing video highlighting employment opportunities, housing options, and community resources in Knox County. The video is being used as a primary tool in online recruitment efforts and is supported in part by a Duke Energy grant.

KCIED President Chris Pfaff said the county is building on recent manufacturing expansion and housing development by taking a more direct approach to talent recruitment. “We’ve built real momentum with expansions in manufacturing and new housing development,” Pfaff said. “Now we’re pairing that with a comprehensive talent recruitment program.”

The effort also includes Knox County’s participation in MakeMyMove, a national relocation platform designed to attract out-of-state remote workers. The program targets 15 new households by December 2026. Eligibility requirements include full-time employment, an annual income of at least $55,000, and the ability to relocate within six months.

Pfaff said more than half of the program’s cost is covered by the state of Indiana, adding that new households bring additional tax revenue and local spending.

In addition, KCIED has updated the “Live Here” section of the KnoxCountyIndiana.com website. The resource is aimed at workers who already commute into Knox County from surrounding areas and Illinois, encouraging them to relocate closer to their jobs.

Housing availability is a key component of the strategy. Bierhaus Flats, a mixed-use apartment development in Vincennes, is scheduled to open its first 24 market-rate units in June. Plans call for additional units to be added in phases through 2027.

Pfaff said the county’s efforts align with regional economic development goals through Indiana First, a multi-county initiative focused on workforce, housing, and quality-of-life needs across southwest Indiana.
