Friday Is The Last Day To File To Run In The May Primary

The deadline to file to run in the May Primary Election is approaching. Candidates have until noon on Friday, February 6, to file.

Voters in Knox County will have several contested races on the Republican primary ballot.

At the state level, three Republicans have filed for State Senate District 39: Tanner Bouchie, Jeff Ellington, and Kristi Risk. Current State Senator Eric Bassler is not seeking re-election.

In the State Representative District 45 race, Bruce Borders is challenged by Kellie E. Streeter.

Two Republicans are seeking the Knox County Recorder position. Vickie S. Bottoms and Blake Wilson have both filed.

The largest Republican field is in the race for Knox County Sheriff. Four candidates are on the ballot: Mike Fisher, John Fuller, Paul Jones, and Dan Short.

Three Republicans have filed to run for Knox County Assessor. They are Ovidiu “Ovi” Ciceu, Zac Harper, and Robert “Woody” Woodward.

In Knox County Commissioner District 3, Richard Chattin and Matt Hoffman are competing for the Republican nomination.

Two contested races are also on the Knox County Council ballot. In District 1, Mary Crismore and Terry Vieck are seeking the Republican nomination. In District 3, Jay Yochum and Brett Dawson are on the ballot.

The Knox County Primary Election will be held May 5.

At this time, there are no contested Democratic races in Knox County. Democrats who have filed include Joseph Baughman for State Senate District 39 and Rebecca Dawn Mayfield for State Representative District 45. Lisa Ritterskamp has filed as the Democratic candidate for Knox County Recorder.
