The Vincennes City Council approved two ordinances unanimously during its regular meeting Monday evening.
The first ordinance updates the city’s public records request policy. It sets conditions on the use of electronically provided public records, prohibiting their use for commercial purposes such as selling or soliciting. The ordinance also establishes fees for paper copies, outlines how electronic records are provided, and clarifies that records used for news reporting, nonprofit activity, or academic research are not restricted.
The second ordinance amends the city’s existing credit card policy. It authorizes the mayor to issue a limited number of city credit cards under specific controls, including use for official city business only, required documentation of expenses, spending limits by department, and recordkeeping requirements. The ordinance also updates credit limits and clarifies responsibility for late fees.
Both ordinances were approved on final readings with unanimous votes of the council
