Local police and state police agencies across our area are posting messages of support for the Beech Grove Police Department after a deadly shooting.
Officers were responding to a disturbance Monday evening at an apartment complex on Diplomat Court when two officers were shot. 33-year-old Officer Brian Elliott died. A second officer was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
State Police say 47-year-old Kenneth Terrell Johnson was later found in a shared laundry area at a nearby apartment building after a resident called in his location. His arrest ended a statewide Blue Alert and a shelter-in-place that had been issued during the search.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office and State Police Post in Evansville say they are is keeping the Beech Grove department and the officers’ families in its thoughts.
