The National Alliance on Mental Illness also known as NAMI Indiana has announced a statewide mental health justice award for a local program leader.

Vanessa Phillips, Director of Forensic Services for RISE Peer Recovery, has been selected for the 20-26 Change Agent in Mental Health Justice Award.

The recognition will be presented March sixth during the NAMI Indiana Mental Health and Criminal Justice Summit at the Embassy Suites Conference Center in Plainfield.

The organization says the award honors work connected to advocacy at the intersection of the criminal justice and mental health systems.

Kelli Jensen, Justice Director for NAMI Indiana, says Phillips’ efforts show that collaborative reforms involving crisis response, diversion, and cross-system coordination are already taking place in Indiana.
