Indiana Conservation officers have released details of an arrest they made in Dubois County last month.
Officers say they received a report around five p-m on February sixteenth of paddlefish being unlawfully snagged at the Patoka Lake spillway.
The investigation led to a residence in Crawford County where forty-five-year-old Crystal Sheets of Birdseye was found in possession of a paddlefish.
Officers also determined she was in violation of a protective order.
Sheets was taken into custody for the protective order violation and charged with misdemeanor unlawful possession of a paddlefish.
Paddlefish are a protected species in Indiana and may not be taken by sport fishermen.
They can only be harvested on the Ohio River by licensed roe harvesters.
