Jasper Rubber Products plans to close its Dubois County facility at the end of April unless a buyer is found.

Workers were notified on February 27 through a federal WARN Act notice issued by parent company First Brands Group. The notice states operations at the plant on West First Avenue in Jasper are expected to shut down April 30, with 345 employees losing their jobs that same day.

City officials say there is still a possibility another company could purchase the facility and keep it operating.

According to the Dubois County Free Press, Jasper Mayor Dean Vonderheide said the city has been meeting with workforce partners to help employees prepare for potential job loss. The city is coordinating with WorkOne and Dubois Strong to assist workers with job searches, transfers, and training opportunities.

First Brands filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September 2025. Federal prosecutors have since charged two former executives with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering, and other financial crimes tied to the company’s finances.

The Jasper closure is part of a broader reduction in operations affecting multiple First Brands facilities. WorkOne Southwest says it plans to provide job fair information and employment assistance to workers impacted by the shutdown.
