Commercial vehicle enforcement totals released by ISP

Indiana State Police have released recent stats from their Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.

The division is responsible for enforcing state and federal regulations on commercial motor vehicles across Indiana.

From January first through February fourteenth, officers completed 6,455 commercial vehicle inspections.

During that time, 653 drivers and 752 vehicles were placed out of service for violations.

Troopers also recorded 49 oversize violations and 278 overweight violations.

The division enforces size and weight laws, conducts safety inspections and compliance reviews, and investigates commercial vehicle crashes.

In January, the unit also took part in the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign, conducting public presentations, media interviews, and providing more than one thousand informational cards and brochures to commercial drivers.

Later in the month, officers assisted local Indiana State Police districts during a winter storm response, helping investigate 131 crashes and responding to more than 2,300 calls for service.
