River Flood Warnings Continue

River flood warnings remain in effect across several rivers in the region following recent rainfall.

The White River at Edwardsport was measured at 22.3 feet Sunday evening. Flood stage at that location is 15 feet. The National Weather Service expects the river to crest near 22.4 feet before beginning a gradual decline. The river is forecast to fall below flood stage late Friday evening, with the warning remaining in effect until late Saturday morning.

At Petersburg, the White River was at 22.8 feet Sunday evening. Flood stage there is 16 feet. Forecasters expect the river to crest at about 25.1 feet early Tuesday afternoon. At 25 feet, a very significant flood is considered in progress.

The East Fork White River at Shoals was nearing 26 feet, with a crest of about 27.6 feet expected Tuesday afternoon.

Along the Wabash River, the gauge at Vincennes is not currently under a flood warning and is about four feet below flood stage.

However, the Wabash River at Mount Carmel, Illinois is under a flood warning. The river was about one foot above the 19-foot flood stage Sunday morning and is expected to rise to nearly 23 feet by Wednesday.

The Patoka River at Princeton is also under a flood warning, with a crest of more than 19 feet expected midweek, about one foot above flood stage.

The Embarrass River at Lawrenceville was cresting near 33 feet Sunday morning, roughly three feet above flood stage.
