Vincennes School Board Reviews Projects, Approves Bids
The Vincennes Community School Board reviewed progress on district construction projects and approved bids for two facility improvements during its meeting Monday night.
Architects David Henson and Andy Myszak provided an update on work completed or underway as part of Phase One of the school corporation’s four-phase construction program. The projects involve improvements at several district facilities.
Board members also approved bids for two projects connected to those facility plans.
Wolfe Construction was awarded the contract for Phase Two of the Culinary Arts renovation at Vincennes Lincoln High School. The total project package is about $1.66 million.
The project will convert the former lower locker commons area into a community-style dining and event space. The space will allow culinary arts students to serve meals during events and will also be used for smaller school and community functions.
School officials say the renovation will be funded using bond proceeds approved last year as part of Phase One facility improvements.
The board also approved a bid from Wabash Utilities to construct a new playground at Franklin Elementary School. The project will cost about $361,000 and will be built behind the school gymnasium on property owned by the school corporation.
Plans for the playground include a shaded structure, a wheelchair-accessible platform, and safety mats.
School officials also announced a public open house related to the culinary arts classroom project at Lincoln High School. The event is scheduled for April 9 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Additional information about the project and the open house will be posted on the Vincennes Community School Corporation’s website and social media pages.
