Two history programs connected to the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence are scheduled in Vincennes this Saturday, March 14.

The first program will take place at 10 a.m. Eastern at the McGrady-Brockman House, 614 North Sixth Street. Zac Distel, curator and director of collections for the National Society of Sons of the American Revolution, will present a program about artifacts from the American Revolution.

According to organizers, Distel will discuss items discovered from the period and explain what materials they are made from, along with how they were used and who may have owned them.

Later in the day, Grouseland will host a Second Saturday Speaker Series program from 2 to 3 p.m. at the William Henry Harrison Mansion. The presentation will focus on women connected to the American Revolution and is scheduled in recognition of International Women’s Day.

Organizers say the events are part of a series of programs being held in Vincennes leading up to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Admission to the Grouseland program is free, with donations accepted.
