North Knox Junior-Senior High School was placed on precautionary lockdown for a short time Wednesday while deputies searched the building.
Superintendent Daryl Bobe called parents and the media with a message saying the Knox County Sheriff’s Department came to the school around midday to serve a non-violent warrant on an individual they believed might be on campus. The person was said to have been doing some painting work at the school.
Bobe says deputies were unable to locate that person. Because no one could confirm where the individual was, he requested a full walkthrough of the school.
The school was placed on lockdown for about 20 minutes while deputies searched all areas of the building.
Bobe says nothing was found during the search, and the lockdown was lifted and classes resumed as normal.
He says additional deputies remained at the school for the rest of the day as a continued precaution.
