Free stroke screenings are being offered in Vincennes at the end of April.
Good Samaritan will host the screenings on Thursday, April 30, by appointment from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Charles C. Hedde Health Education Center.
The screenings include blood pressure, body mass index, lipid profile, A1C, and checks for atrial fibrillation, along with a carotid artery check using a stethoscope.
Educators, nurses, and a dietician will also provide information on stroke warning signs and ways to reduce risk.
Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in the United States and up to 80% of them can be prevented. “We are happy to offer these free screenings to our community,” said Amanda Beaman, Neuroscience Stroke Manager at Good Samaritan. “This is a great time to raise awareness about stroke, and also educate everyone about the signs, symptoms and risk factors for stroke.”
Appointments are required and space is limited. Registration is available online at gshvin.org/health-services/stroke-services/stroke-screenings or call 812-885-3336.
