The National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky has issued a special weather statement today advising against outdoor burning.
Elevated fire danger is expected across the region during peak heating hours.
Sustained winds between 10 and 20 miles per hour are forecast, with gusts between 25 and 35 miles per hour. Isolated gusts above 35 miles per hour are also possible.
Relative humidity values this afternoon are expected to range from 28 to 38 percent. While that is above critical levels, very dry fuels combined with gusty winds could allow fires to start and spread quickly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended, and gusty winds may also blow around unsecured objects.
The weather service in Paducah, Kentucky serves Wabash, Edwards, Wayne and White Counties in Illinois and the counties south of those, as well as Gibson, Pike, Posey, Vanderburgh, Warrick and Spencer counties in Indiana.
