Last week the National Weather Service reported that drought conditions had have officially ended statewide after 324 consecutive days.

The agency says recent rainfall over the past month has led to significant improvement. However, some areas in far southwest and north-central Indiana remain abnormally dry due to longer-term rainfall deficits.

Those areas include almost all of Knox and Gibson Counties and a small portion of Pike County.

Weather experts, farmers, and emergency management officials continue to monitor those areas.

At this posting, the weather forecast for our region was calling for a 20 to 30 percent of rain for today and Tuesday and a 50 to 60 percent chance on Wednesday and Thursday.
