A Knox Circuit Court jury has found 72-year-old Daniel R. Adams guilty of Possession of Child Pornography, a Level 5 felony. The verdict came down Wednesday following a three-day trial.
The case involved Adams taking photographs of the genitalia of two girls, ages 7 and 9, in September 2024. Sentencing is scheduled for July, where Adams faces up to six years in prison.
Knox County Prosecutor Dirk Carnahan credited Chief Deputy Mike Steiner for presenting the State’s case. Carnahan also acknowledged the strain that jury trials place on the local justice system.
“There are too many cases, too few available court dates, and not enough prosecutors or public defenders to handle them,” Carnahan said, emphasizing his concern for public safety.
“As long as there are people who victimize children, we will do all that can be done to remove them from our community, provide closure for victims and allow their healing to begin,” he said.
