Vincennes University has recognized 13 first-year faculty members for completing its Trailblazer Teaching Academy, a yearlong program focused on teaching excellence.

The 2024-25 cohort was honored May 12 with certificates at a recognition luncheon attended by VU President Chuck Johnson and Provost Laura Treanor.

Created in 2020, the academy prepares new professors and instructors to make an immediate impact by providing training in classroom practices and insight into VU’s academic structure.

“This program offers more than just an orientation,” said Dr. Sarah Alderfer, who leads the academy. “It’s designed to foster community among faculty while equipping them with research-based best practices.”

The 2024-25 cohort included Keith Adkins, Tim Buckner, Sara Burger, Shane Chester, Spencer Ebbinga, Molly Engstrom, Amanda Jerrel, Brent Maguire, Jennifer McNeece, Nickole Meier, Dawn Nelson, and Jaret Roach.

More than 50 faculty members have completed the program since its launch.
