It’s day two of the First City Music Festival at the French Commons in Vincennes. The weekend event highlights bluegrass, folk, and roots music and has drawn crowds from across the region.

Pat Caulfield, who traveled from Wisconsin to see some of his favorite acts including Armchair Boogie, said the festival has become one of his yearly stops.

“John Hartford once said that Bluegrass is a big small town and I would say the festival circuit is a big small town. I see festivals all over the country and see the same people wherever I go. As a person who’s been seeing festivals for 40 years, this is an amazing family vibe and it really is great,” Caulfield said.

Today’s lineup includes the 65 North Pickers, Henhouse Prowlers, Grandpa’s Cough Medicine, and Armchair Boogie, who perform both Friday and Saturday. New Old Cavalry will close out the schedule with a late-night set.

Organizers note this year’s lineup is one of the strongest yet, with Grammy Award winner Peter Rowan and the Sam Grisman Project headlining the weekend.

A Friday pass is $60 plus fees. More information is available at firstcitymusicfestival.com.
