
Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott has announced the promotion of Trooper Teresa Vaal to the rank of Sergeant.
In her new role, Sergeant Vaal will serve as a Squad Leader for the Jasper District. Vaal has been with the Indiana State Police for seven years and earned the promotion following a rigorous process that included a written exam, an oral interview, and a review of her overall job performance.
A native of Dubois County and graduate of Southridge High School and the University of Southern Indiana, Vaal began her law enforcement career as a dispatcher with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office. She joined the Indiana State Police in 2018 and was named Trooper of the District two years later.
She has served as an academy counselor, crisis negotiator, field training officer, and firearms instructor. Sergeant Vaal and her husband live in Perry County.
